I've hit a sense of boredom with my small paintings. I'm not sure if it's because i've been doing similar work for the last year and a half, or simply because something's missing that needs to be found. I'll be spending this reading week furthering my understanding of medieval art, further explore the work of artists such as Haring and Basquiat, and the misfortunes that haunt our society. I'm close to abandoning what I've done so far, but only for something hopefully more grand.

I think it is great that you are opening yourself to new ideas. It is good not to get stuck in a certain style for along time. I do not think that you should not be so hard on yourself though (if you are!) because I think that you have something. As you had mentioned, working larger could really give you a different perspective. Why not try really big, on wood panel, maybe just acrylic, or try mixed medium like collage.....maybe try to be less contained within the spaces. I think before you venture somewhere else, you should not put this to rest quite yet because it is there for you to experiment with. Experiment!
